Review: Robot & Frank

REVIEW Robot & Frank (M) 3.5 stars Frank Langella, Susan Sarandon, Liv Tyler, James Marsden DIRECTOR JAKE SCHREIER REVIEW SHANNON HARVEY You'll like this if you liked Bicentennial Man, Driving Miss Daisy, Grumpy Old Men, The Stepford Wives, Surrogates, 2001, Iron Giant, E.T. A cranky old coot and a humanoid robot become BFFs in Robot & Frank, a modest yet moving US drama that sees 74-year-old Oscar nominee Frank Langella in career-best form and giving a masterclass in ice-cool self-awareness. It's the debut film from young writer Christopher D. Ford and his film-school director friend Jake Schreier, and was shot in just 20 days for $2.4 million. But you'd never know. It looks and plays more like a $10-$15 million film with its setting in the near future, when humans are beginning to use robots for various domestic tasks. Frank (Langella) is a retired jewel thief and ex-con who lives alone in his isolated home in upstate New York. The dishes and laundry are building

Keira Knightley: I wanted to hide my body

Tuesday Nov 13 2012 Keira Knightley says there was a time when she wanted to "hide" her body. The British actress is hailed as one of the most beautiful women in Hollywood, having starred in iconic campaigns for Chanel. However, her slim frame has also drawn some criticism - which the 27-year-old says isn't always easy to deal with. "I knew I wasn't anorexic," she explained to Allure. "But maybe my body is somehow not right. Or my face is not right. Or the way I speak is not right. When you're going through a period where you're really getting a lot of criticism, you go, 'Maybe all this is right!' You just kind of want to hide it all." These days the Anna Karenina star is a lot more comfortable with her body and has no qualms about stripping off for acting roles. In movies such as The Duchess and The Edge of Love the gorgeous star has exposed some serious skin. But Keira still has strict rules when it comes to exactly what is shown

Whether she's an elfin babe in "Lord of the Rings" or getting hot and heavy with Ben Affleck at the end of the world in "Armageddon," Liv Tyler is always stunning. The actress benefits from good genes -- she's the daughter of Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler and '70s model Bebe Buell . Even though she inherited her parents' good looks she has a style all her own . "Simple, yet sexy" is her mantra and with friends like Kate Hudson and Stella McCartney giving her fashion advice she never fails to turn it out on the red carpet. We only wish we could share a closet with Liv, but it looks like her dad beat us to it . In this 1990 photo Liv was spotted in a more feminine version of the '90s grunge look popularized by bands like Nirvana and Pearl Jam. With flannel, Doc Martens and headbang-worthy locks she's a rock star
