Kim Kardashian vows to cherish Liz Taylor's gems

Kim Kardashian feels "honoured" to have purchased Dame Elizabeth Taylor's jewellery.

The reality TV beauty was among the bidders at the late actress' Christie's auction in New York this week. The fashion and jewellery pieces broke world records for the most expensive collection sold in one night.

Kim was present at one of the auction days, and paid $64,900 for a set of Lorraine Schwartz bangles. The stunning star is thrilled with her purchase.

"Elizabeth Taylor was an idol of mine and I'm honoured to now own something from her collection," she told US Weekly.

"The Lorraine Schwartz jade bracelets are special because jade transfers energy, so I will cherish these bracelets with her energy in them for the rest of my life!"

The Elizabeth Taylor Collection set the world record for the most expensive collection of jewels sold in one night. The late star's personal items were expected to fetch $30 million, but instead made $115,932,000.

The auctioning continued later in the week where Elizabeth's wardrobe of iconic haute couture gowns and more jewels fetched a further $2.6 million.

The total sum set another best for a fashion sale.
