Liv Tyler to enter Space Station

Liv Tyler and Patrick Wilson have just wrapped filming on sci-fi movie Space Station 76.

The Hollywood Reporter's Heat Vision blog reveals that the "dramatic comedy" is set in a space station in a 1970s version of the future, with Liv playing a new assistant captain and Patrick as the suicidal captain.

The movie, which was made under the radar in Los Angeles, also stars Jerry O'Connell, Matt Bomer and newcomer Kylie Rogers. It was written and directed by Jack Plotnick.

Jack said he saw the space station as a metaphor for growing up in the suburbs during the 70s.

"People think that the 1970s were about the discos and the free love, but in the suburbs you were left feeling, 'Where's the party?'" he told the website.

"So the emotional story is what I felt in the 70s. My parents weren't happy together and they stuck it out for the kids. It's an homage to them. And in one way, I think we're like these solitary ships in space trying to connect."

He added of his challenging directorial debut: "I asked myself several times, 'Why didn't I make a movie that took place in an apartment?' But then I pinch myself that we got the cast that we got."
