Anyone can be stylish
Style isn't just something you're born with. There are certain people with whom I've grown up who have an innate ability to dress themselves well - everything they put on looks incredibly sophisticated, simple and elegant. But you can learn to find your own style, too, and it's exciting to grow and develop it. Don't feel as though you need to be dressing a certain way - fashion is great because it allows you to pick and choose what works for you and what doesn't
Do your research
Use as many references as possible in working out what you do and don't like. Watch films, look at old photos of models and actors, and observe and study people. You'll see that the things you are most drawn to are the sorts of looks you could recreate. I really love to research and look back at different things in film, fashion and art - everything and anything could be inspiration
Mix it up
Don't overthink your look. If you've got a more reserved personality, you could have a theme running through your look, but if your taste is more eclectic, don't be scared about mixing different styles together. The whole fun of finding your own style is not being restricted by what you should or shouldn't be wearing
Inspiring fashion
It's so inspiring to look at current designer collections, as you can work out what looks you really love and what sort of pieces you would like to wear. My favourites are Stella McCartney and Givenchy, and I love what Tom Ford is doing at the moment. But if you have a natural l! ove for fashion, don't just restrict yourself to looking at current collections; look at fashion from the past, whether it's from the 1700s or the 1970s
Start from the top
I love experimenting with my hair, and it's a good, easy to change way of finding out what suits you, whether it's short, long, curly or straight. Certain colours and highlights can bring out and enhance your features - I've been a redhead a few times for movies and I really enjoyed that, but I also tried a dirty blonde shade recently and it was horrible. My features instantly disappeared, so we had to change it
Comfort dressing
Not everything in your wardrobe needs to be distinctive. It's just as nice to wear things that you feel comfortable in that really work for you. I love shopping but don't go much, so every once in a while will visit Rag & Bone and buy some great jeans, T-shirts and a jacket. Buying simple wardrobe staples can be very satisfying
